I had the same issue and it bugged me for weeks...........it turned out to be the boot catch needed packing with grease (the part that is attached to the lid). Apparently it's a common issue!

Me too. Same creaking noise while going over speed bumps. Mine is an xc60 r design 63 plate. I thought it might be the suspension! Been into volvo and.....they can't find anything. Also mine has been hicupping recently. ..again volvo...no idea.

Ah-ha - just Halford's own spray grease or should I pack it out with good old fashioned gunky grease?

I'll try driving around the car park at lunchtime with the boot open and see if the noise is still there. It was bad this morning but luckily it took my mind off the radio and a discussion about last night's match.

I got Volvo to do mine under warranty and they removed the cover and packed it full of proper grease but if I was paying for it then I would first try the spray grease as you would not need to remove anything in order to get the grease in there......

You clever, clever people. A quick spray with white lithium grease and it's gone. It's silent again. It didn't even sound like it was coming from there, so thank you all.

I had what sounds very similar on a V70. Low speed creak. Was rear suspension bushes. Specialist advised it was not an unusual problem in a high mileage vehicle. Don't know if XC60 setup is similar, but might be worth checking out.

Default XC60 2014 - rear driver-side squeak

I get this squeak once I go over 30mph and hit any kind of bump. What solutions was anyone able to find? Garage has checked suspension and internal panels.

Get some silicone spray and go over all of the door seals and boot seal, it fixed most of my noises for a couple of months, need to do them again now as it's starting to get noisy again, amazing amount of body flex in these!!

I had this on a second hand XC60 with 60k miles on it.

Turned out in my case to be worn bushes on the rear suspension, they were that bad that the lower rear front trailing arm was rubbing against the bodywork causing the squeaking noise, it didn't take much to set it off, any sort of deviation in the road surface made it squeak.

It didn't do it when the roads were wet as the moisture acted as a lubricant and silenced the noise, it was a bugger to diagnose the issue in January/February when I got the car.

It is difficult to find, the car dealer had MOT'd the car with it in this condition and it is was actually an MOT failure, hence they paid for it to be fixed.
