Bizarre. Oil changes are included, but brake fluid changes are excluded. Not a great message for 'Volvo commitment to safety'.

I can't remember having any Ts & Cs for the pre-paid service option I took up to confirm or deny this.

I was told the brake fluid was included, ( I was looking for catches before I took it out) my first service isn't due yet so haven't had mine done yet.

Looking at the terms of the "five years servicing for £500" it says that brake fluid is a wear and tear item. Not sure if labour is included in offer but not the fluid itself?

My service plan contract info says it includes everything in the maintenance schedule including the cost of the materials. (see below) I did specifically ask the sales rep if it included brake fluid and he said it did.

I think it must depend as to when you took out the plan.

I was also under the impression that this was outside service plan - good result for those who have as think it's circa £70 ordinarily - go get yourselves a take away and a nice bottle of plonk on your saving.....and you'll still have enough change left over for the bus home!

If you consider that a dealer might charge £50-80 for brake fluid renewal, its omission is a significant cost but if you then consider that it would cost you less than a tenner to do yourself, it's neither here nor there.
Whichever way, it's odd that brake fluid is considered wear and tear but oil isn't.
No doubt it's left off the obligatory service items to keep the fixed service cost down which makes the cars appear more cheap to maintain on paper for the big fleet companies and any advertising.

Why waste money on a bus, when you have a nice XC60 to get you home. Put the extra cash towards Diesel.

When did you take out your service plan ? Was it the '5 years for £500' which is currently on offer ?
