Default Retrofit Volvo sat nav to a V60

Hi, I would be very grateful if somebody would be able to help me please. I am looking to buy a Volvo V60 R-design, one of the requirements for me is to have sat nav included, does anybody know if it possible to have intergrated sat nav retrofitted by Volvo into a V60 that currently does not have sat nav fitted.

Many thanks.

Russell

What age?

If it has 7" screen and is new(ish) it may simply be a case of the dealer entering the licence key - which will cost a lot, but feasible.

Upgrading from older or lesser specs can be very expensive.

I had an 11 reg V60 ES, no OEM satnav, and simply used the sucker style mount to place my Garmin in front of the screen. I had a small plastic disc with a sticky back that I attached there and left it discreetly in place and that securely anchored the unit. It would be quite easy to run a power feed through so that there are no trailing wires etc. Retrofitting an OEM satnav sounds expensive, very expensive. Not only that my Garmin unit was/is better than many manufacturer units and easy to update. This would be your cheapest bet, if you really do want an OEM installation then it would almost be as cost-effective to buy a suitable spec vehicle rather than retro-fit. Anything that you spend on installing an OEM unit is unlikely to add appreciably to the trade-in value down the line.

I would be intrigued to know if you could simply "switch on" a unit already there via a software fix. I have not heard of that. We were once offered a trade-in, I have trade connections, on one occasion that the owner said had satnav. However the original spec did not include a unit. It turned out he had taken an old Tom-tom and lashed up a real mess of an installation by attempting to glue the unit in using evo-stik or similar and running a power feed through! The deal didnt go through.

The Sensus Connect variants have (if premium sound is specified, which comes with the larger screen) the satnav software installed but no license key. If you press the blank button where the Nav one would normally be you get directed to provide the code. So ordering Nav retrospectively gets you the code plus a new button with Nav written in it.

I know this as a mistake in ordering meant mine arrived with no Nav installed. Thankfully I'd added premium sound or it would have been a complete factory re-order....

I noticed, using a Garmin GPS the signal was very poor when placed in the compartment where the screen would otherwise be, so had to give up in the end. Now, my iPhone 6 Plus fits much better and signal is never a problem as it also uses A-GPS for location.

I got the TomTom Go app which does the job quite nicely (still a few bugs though).

I was wondering, and going off topic here, if one could get DAB+ installed rather than all these add-ons as the FM band is now being cut all across the continent (maybe The UK too?)
