Trolley jack oil
I suspect that the oil in my trolley jack has become a bit low. Is there a special hydraulic oil that needs to be used or can I use brake fluid? I suspect not but just checking.

Don't use brake fluid as the jacks seals don't like it and disintegrate. Most motor factors (eg your version of 'Halfords') sell hydraulic fluid for trolley jacks.

I bought 500ml for £3 at Enfield jumble last Saturday. Online price about £6 but usually plus P&P.
Unless there is obvious leakage it probably just needs bleeding. Lots of how to's on You Tube but some make the job look difficult. Check through a few. |
