Wiper Parking issue
Hi
1969 1800S Can't quite get my head round this. On the normal return sweep of the wipers they wipe to just above the bottom screen rubber (driver's side) still on the glass, nice and tidy. When they park however they are a couple of inches higher and slightly in my eye line. Please see the attached pictures. Look at the black marks on the spindle end - 1 is the position of wipers parked, 2 is the position of the end of the return sweep - a few degrees further on. I've since had the motor out, dismantled it, cleaned and re-greased it. Also cleaned and re-greased the arms and cables. I didn't disconnect the cables so nothing changed there. All seems to be in good condition. However problem still persists. I noticed on the ends of the arms the cable is attached with a nut so I wonder if adjusting the cables would make a difference? Small problem I know, but annoying. Thanks Simon Last edited by Uplander; Jun 7th, 2018 at 14:57. Reason: add photo |

I had a similar problem with my return wiper position on my ES many years ago.
My solution was quite simple, just disconnected the return connection on the wiper motor. So now I just turn my wipers off wherever I want them parked in a particular position. The advantage is you can park them on the left or the right side, I think the default for the parking system is on the left, but I prefer mine on the right as it gives me slightly better visibility. Good idea Gavin, I'll do that straight away to sort the immediate problem out.
I'll continue to pursue the issue if only for curiosity's sake. |
