Default my locking is temperamental volvo s60 2006 D5

my locking and unlocking on my fob is temperamental some days it works fine first time others it doesnt. ive tried my spare fob when its playing up and that doesnt lock or unlock either. i tested the batteries they are good. i can be there pressing and holding the buttons to lock.unlock several times and get nothing yet other days works first time.

but what is very weird is the unlocking of my boot on the fob works every time even when the doors wont unlock/lock. maybe related too when i goto lock the doors manually with the key when the fob doesnt work it will lock then unlock again.

very weird intermittent problem. i dont have a clue where to start looking

Hi.
You need to study the wiring diagram to get to grips with this.
I haven`t but from your description it sounds like the bootlock is on a separate circuit from the doors and is not affected. The key in the lock is a mechanical lock and should work unless the driver door lock is mechanically stuck or has electrical power holding it unlocked .
investigate the relays and the drivers door lock as it is the master lock. The lock is known to fail.
When you use the key to lock do all the door buttons go down and then pop up again ? If one is not then that might be part of the problem.
