Are you removing the harmonic balancer to do the cambelt? If so, there is no need - you can feed it around the pulley. Remove the lower shield (2x 10mm bolts IIRC) and then feed the belt around the pulley - there is a metal moulding in the way, but you can feed the belt around it, and the belt will pop onto the crank pulley.

Its shown in RobertDIY's video on youtube

They aren't meant for breaking loose nuts/bolts. Same goes for ratchets. Both are just convenience tools to help you between tight and tight. But, I'm guilty too.

Did a temporary repair to the headlamp washer system.

I tried them out for the first time today and there was no water getting to the headlamps but I noticed water was dripping down at the front of the car. Further investigation and I found the T-piece valve for the headlamp washers which I removed and took apart. It was gummed up so I proceeded to clean it out and put back together. Unfortunately it didn't help as the water was still pouring out the hole at the bottom of the valve, so with a dab of acrylic cement I filled the hole and I put the valve back on the car and the washers are now working. I'll order a new valve next time I'm buying parts

Always amazing where this gunk comes from given washer fluid is usually detergent, anti freeze and plain water.

I've been starting my Stage 0 work this weekend - PCV system replacement, replacing vacuum hoses with 5mm ID silicon (broke the TCV), replaced the dizzy cap & rotor arm, cleaned the throttle body etc.

The dizzy cap and rotor arm were in pretty good condition as it turned out - the cap was a genuine Bosch one, with a Beru rotor arm. I could have left them, but as I'd already bought new genuine parts I replaced them anyway. Amazingly, the PCV orifices in the block were clear with virtually no crud in them at all

Old PCV-

As usual, the main breather hose had broken inside that foam padding. New PCV using 5/8 heater hose to replace that breather, genuine Volvo oil separator hoses, and the cheapo PFV oil separator box.

The intake valves were nice and clean

The throttle body less so

Ten mins later

Onto the replacement of all the coolant hoses today...

I'm doing all this as there was very little service history with the car, but it does seem to have been looked after, which is great news. The only bad parts were the vacuum lines, PCV pipes and the coolant hoses which are very soft - and the heater hoses are showing signs of leakage so were a priority.

Over the past week or so, fitted 4 x Koni frequency active dampers to my C70 T5 - £460 well spent, amazing transformation to handling and ride, also, no more creeks - even on a hot day!

Also fitted new Lenso BSX wheels, gold with polished rims - a £600 mistake!

Looks like yours is ME7? Mines pre-ME7. Takes a while but isn't that bad a job tbh.

Might not be so bad if the centres were more subtle?
