Default window switch block

So my rear windows don't work, and the osf one touch has packed up so I need the switch block..

But as I was reliably informed the other week, it has to be programmed into the car. gee, thanks..

Anyone know how to, or is it dealership only??? And what would be a realistic price? just before i bite his nose, you understand...

My Independant Volvo garage and several scrapyards said that "replacements" often work with no problem, certainly before 2005.

does the boot work? only because i had a similar problem where the rear windows/door locks/boot would not work. the rear electronic module had gone to sleep and wouldn't wake up.

you can test for this, by disconnecting the battery, leaving 15 minutes, then reconnect. if this is the problem, it should wake the REM up but the fault is likely to reoccur.

i got a software reload for about £60 and its been fine since.

if not, then its probably the Drivers Door Module unit which is quite expensive.

I had a chap who was after my driver door module, worked for him, another guy showed up for window mechanism and we had to lower the window. his module would not work in my car, i had to use my passenger module to lower the drivers window. Then i fitted my window mechanism into his car and it worked fine with his driver's module. So all is confusing and all i can say after few other trials is that it is a software issue and unless you pick exactly the same part number you have to reload the software which is around 70 quid +VAT.
