Radiator top hose came off
Hi all, accelerating quite hard today and all hell breaks loose! I pull over and realise the top radiator hose has come off from the engine block, I manage to get it back on and tighten it up a bit. Now the Dash warning light for Exhaust emission has come on. Obviously the light came on when the pipe came off but is it a direct result or could something else have failed? I am a bit worried, do I need to replace the hose/ take it to the garage, how can I get rid of the warning light if refixing the hose has sorted the issue? Thanks in advance.

Did the car overheat ? If not just pull fuse 1 leave it for a minute and it should go off when you re start. check the hose and also the stub on radiator as it's a known weak spot.

No overheating, I had only set off 3 mins earlier, first bit of open road, put my foot down and then all of a sudden nothing. I’ll double check the connection. I am running 10PSI on the turbo- could that have caused it or Is it just a coincidence as it’s a weak spot.

High boost shouldn't make the hose come off but you could have a problem with your head gasket. You would need to do a leak down test to check whats going on

You don't say what car but, assume you mean the lambda engine management light.
The ecu will have have triggered it when 'things went wrong'. Suggest you disconnect the battery negative terminal (or I think people say fuse No.1) which I find easiest to re-set the system. Hopefully, it will not come back on. If it does read the codes depending on what system you have. Bob |
