Default Workshop manual

Hi, just joined the Volvo scene so need a bit of basic guidance. Yesterday picked up a 07 C30 2.0L D in very nice condition but high - 169k - miles (so cheap). with FSH and recent new DMF.

Spent today giving it the once over and all seems well. However Volvo seem to think that all owners must go to main agents for anything beyond checking the tyre pressures (and they quote those in kilopascals in the book !!)

That's definitely not my way, no car of mine has ever been near a garage other than MOT in 50+ years motoring so a decent workshop manual is vital.

Trawling ebay brings up a few to use on the PC but all say that they are not compatible with W7 home 64 bit OS which is on both of our computers. Does anyone know of a version which will work ? The other alternative is to dig out an old PC I have with the ancient W2000 OS and buy an XP pro OS but that's quite expensive.

I have also spent a few hours generally trawling the forum to familiarise myself with this models foibles but there doesn't seem many posts about the C30. As I am not yet familiar with the Volvo range which other models should I keep an eye on as broadly similar so likely to show up the same fault trend ?

Starting Issues with the 2.0D - throttle body mainly sometimes the ignition barrel.

Suspension clonks as a whole.

wheel bearings

clicking drive shafts moving off splines need resin in and sorting.

generally it, the C30/S40/V50 generally suffer the same issues.

There is not really a workshop manual as such apart from VIDA/DICE.

You can get a Haynes for the V50 and S40. That should cover the 2.0d engine as well.
