Power steering hose
Hi all,
Just noticed a patch of fluid under the car this morning. It turns out one of the power steering hoses under the car has a small hole/split. I've got under the car and used some old inner tube and a couple of jubilee clips and made a temporary fix but can the hose be spliced with a new section or does the whole run including the metal sections need to be replaced? Anyone had any experiences with this? Thanks Andy |

Another question!
I'm lying on my back under the car (feet sticking out the front) the leaking hose is the one on the right with what looks like a slightly smaller crimped connection. Is this the lower pressure return or the high pressure side. Just thinking I might try some of that silicone repair tape as a better temporary fix? |

I've had that on both our Volvo's. The old S40 got new pipes from Volvo and the V50 got pipes fabricated by the local garage. I suspect any repair with tape will turn out to be pretty temporary.

Thanks. P.a. what did it cost to get pipes fabricated? |

I think it was about £180 including labour from memory.
