2009 C30 Blower Motor Access
Hello,
My C30 blower motor, or at the the fan, is not spinning. When I turn the heater on you can hear it engage but there is simply no movement. I think that the fan might be slightly seized and I was wondering if there is a guide for me to get "quick" access to try and give it a spin. I have been searching youtube and the internet without much luck and I rather not take this into the dealer if possible. I have no drove the car for about 2 weeks and we had a humid/cold spell which may have caused this problem. Any suggestions? |

I'm afraid it's a real pig to get access to if it's the issue I think it is.
To get to the motors involves most of the dash apart, I believe from memory main dealers bill about 8 hours work for this last time I enquired If you're capable yourself I'd get a copy of VIDA and have a crack at it yourself, I dont think much of it is very hard just very time consuming.

That is unfortunate. I read a post on here that if you remove the scuttle panel you could at least see if it was spinning (and my hope would be I could give it a nudge). I cannot find any guides on how to do this.
Thanks for the reply. |

If it is the same as on V50 it is a real pain in the neck, I had to change mine when one of transistors burned out.
On V50, if you want to try to nudge it, its possible to get the access from channel under the windscreen wipers. If you actually want to change it, you really have to disassemble a lot of the dash, remove bolts for dash itself, tilt it towards back of the car, and then you can access screws for the fan itself. I started friday evening and was able to finish assembly around sunday midday. Of coirse proffessional would do it faster... |
