Brake light LED
I've just changed a couple of tail light bulbs that had blown and noticed there isn't a brake light bulb. Read the manual and it says it's LED, great!
How do I get this fixed? |

but first check if it is plugged in , when you change an upper tail bulb you have to unplug the LED brake light to get the holder out .. maybe it isnt in properly or the wire broken?

I managed to turn the lamp holder unit round and changed the bulb without unplugging it.
Is a new unit expensive? |

ah well as long as you have 12volts and earth on that little plug at the top you will need a new light unit . Its not the leds which have failed but their micro controller chip on the board inside the light .

Brake light
Check out brake light replace on YouTube someone talks you through a repair. The electrical part on the board is called a diode and they are 10 for a pound and you need to solder it onto the board. I bought a solder iron for £16 I am waiting for it to come and I will try to fix it myself

You don't need a whole light unit. The LED portion is available as a separate part. I had one go on my V50. It would light briefly then go off. Volvo changed the LED circuit board under my extended warranty without having to replace the whole unit
Not sure on the price but I'd expect it to be quite a bit cheaper than a whole unit |
