I had a jetta 2.0 tdi before my s40 and I to was disappointed with the volvo in terms of performance. The jetta just seemed nicer to drive, it had a slicker gear change and always seemed to want to go faster. My s40 just dosent, and ive stopped trying!
BUT my volvo feels better made and touch wood has been more reliable. Also it looks stonking when clean and I never tire of looking at it! It could really do with more power, but if I wanted a fast diesel I would buy a bmw . On the whole the volvo is not a bad compremize, you ll get used to it! |

Done several runs with the phone app using gps. I got varying results of 0-60 from 12.8secs to 15.4 secs. Slower than my 1.2 8v punto. I really hope the dealer finds something.

Have a good look round the engine bay yourself.
Look over all the pipes and hoses, check all them for any splits rips or tears, pay close attention to areas around connectors and under jubilee clips as well as the inner side of folds and the underside of pipes too. Some splits etc.. may only show themself when there is a little bit of load going through the pipes - as they flex a bit. The other area to lookover is the intercooler for splits or leaks and assosiated pipes. |

Hi there
Yours will be the 2.0D as the D2 1.6D was not fitted till model year 2011 one area to look is make sure the vac pipe (thin black ones) have not fallen off they are near the oil filter housing and go to the throttle and the turbo control valve i have seen these fall off when the oil filter has been changed and people do not clean the excess oil off resulting in the pipes swelling and falling off. |

Cheers, thanks for that.
I'll have a quick look myself at teatime. Got the car booked in at the Volvo dealers on Friday for them to check under warranty. Really hope they find something! I got a V50 4 year ago and after 2 days it went into limp mode with a ABS fault, cleared when the car was restarted. 2 days later did the the same but a different fault, so it went back for a software up date! Got it back, few days later same thing again but this time it compromised the safety of my young family going into limp mode could not indicate, no dash display! Went back this time for 3 weeks, they changed engine loom etc. Got it back and it lasted 5 days before another fault accured. Last straw, took it back and got a full refund and was put off Volvo. It was a week before a holiday in Cornwall and I had no car, thats when I got the Jetta. Really p......d that I have finally plucked up courage to go to Volvo again and now again, things ain't right, and it's the dearest car I have ever bought. I know it may be minor but my confidence is blown! |

By the sounds of it you have been pretty unlucky with Volvo's.
Not sure you'll get many people agreeing with you on here. I hope whatever the problem is that it gets sorted, gratis of course! Have you done something bad recently, sounds like Karma is getting back at you for something? ;-) |

You may be right! fell off my push bike 6 weeks ago and broke my collar bone which now has a metal plate screwed to it and I broke my shoulder blade and ribs too. Pot holes!!
I hope you are right about not many people agreeing with me, I love the car, just want it to perform better. Will update on Friday. |

Well you are bound to have some good luck soon, especially with all that happening to you!
All the best on Friday, I'll wait with bated breath for the outcome. |

Went out last night in my 1.2ltr 8v Fiat Punto Active and my wife in the V50, nice long straight country lane, Punto kept up with it!!
It may be not like the Jetta, but it shouldn't be like the Punto! |

Poor performance
Hi Guys,
I would like to apologise if anyone feels I am taking over a thread just need some help please. Need help please got a fault code ccm-0009 which is 'fan motor passenger compartment temperature sesnsor blocked'? Quick questions: Would this effect the performance of the car? Where is this sensor? I have a Rica remap but it just will not respond, the gas pedal feels like a brick to push like it is being resisted. My other 2 fault codes are: CEM-3A00 - ECM, software faulty signal ECM-C301 - Control module, faulty software checksum Both these faults clear if I remove the Rica remap but Rica have advised they are normal on a remapped car and would not be the cause of the lack of performance. The car is an 2005 Euro5 S40 2.0d 136bhp with a dpf Any advice please guys? Thanks in advance |
