Sorry for the stupidly large pics, I uploaded my pics to VGY, how do I resize them so they fit in the forum post properly? Can someone resize them for me please?

Just trace pipework to the green and white connectors.
The one which is the feed will lead to the HP pump and the return will lead back to the injector leak pipes.

Ok, so I traced them 2 connectors at the left of my engine, the white + green ones.

The white connector pipe connects onto the black plastic cap on the fuel filter. I believe this port on the plastic piece is the inlet to the filter.
The green connector goes onto the other port which is directly on the metal casing of the filter itself. I believe this port on filter case itself is the outlet.

Also, the white connector goes from engine back to under the car, assuming to tank.
The green connector pipe comes from under the car too (assuming comes from tank) and then goes into a junction hose piece. The hose from the leak-offs connects into this junction hose too. As does another fatter hose and also an electrical connector. The fatter hose connects from the junction hose onto another thing / valve? The hose from the filter which i'm calling the outlet then connects to this same thing / valve that the fatter hose connects to as well.

I hope my description is able to be followed there

So are we saying that my green connector is the return and I'm still able to disconnect it at top of the engine and bleed it from this point?

In case this helps anyone else.

I done this tonight, had a MityVac gun ready but didn't need it. I filled the new filter up with diesel until it started coming out the outlet pipe, slow process but stuck with it.

Prceeded to fit the filter then and it started first time no problem, didn't need to disconnect any pipes to use the vacuum gun or crank over for bleeding etc....

@Cheshired5 - Cheers for the advice dude, I'm sure them tips will come in handy in future on some car no doubt.

Sometime that works, sometimes it doesn't.

Last V50 I done it wouldn't start until I towed it, now amount of sucking or blowing would sort it!

Finally got round to fitting the new fuel filter today. Did as per MrVol's method - made sure the new filter was full of diesel before fitting. But it only took me a couple of minutes - I used a kitchen turkey baster to fill the filter. Nozzle fits neatly inside the filter pipe. Perfect tool and can be had on eBay for 99p, free shipping.
Car started instantly, as normal, and ran immediately with no hesitation.
Seems if you make sure the filter is full there is no need to do any 'priming'.

Just wondering if anyone can help. I've changed the filter and pre filled it. Have taken the green connector off on the side on the engine and it just won't bring fuel through. I've done it maybe 10 times. Any idea? I need to drive it to the garage on thursday!
