Ha sorry I was having a melt down earlier.

So first I changed the filter and stupidly thought I'd start it to see if it's all good. Died after 3 seconds.

So I filled the filter and tried again, won't start.

So I then removes the green collared pipe on the left hand side of the engine and cranked it over 10 times for 10 seconds each time, with a gap in between. Still won't start.

I saw online of some people saying to pull the lines on the injectors? My battery is on charge tonight.

I'd use the suction method every time because I'm averse to excessive cranking of starters.
A cheap vacuum pump will do or a priming bulb from Halfords or even attaching a length of clear hose and suck manually but stop before you get a mouthful of diesel.

Take your pick because all are preferable to cooking the starter or killing the battery.
I'm assuming you have a reasonable amount of diesel in the tank and all hose connections are secure as even a tiny bit of air in the system will render any efforts futile.

But have I missed the boat for the suction method becauae by now I'm sure the pipes from the filter to engine are full of air. The filter is full if diesel. You can use suction post engine surely?

Yes of course.
Just attach at the return where all the injector leak offs converge to go back to the the main fuel tank.

Hand priming worked a treat thanks cheshired5

Some of the advice in this thread is a little over complicated.

I filled filter with fuel (not necessary)
Used a £10 pump on the green pipe, left hand side of the engine, (fuel return pipe)
Cranked twice and job done

The unit comes out easily and there are 3 little torque screws to remove the cartridge.

Personally I'd be inclined to change the complete unit.

As cheshired says, no bleeding needed, filling it with diesel first also helps.

It's a dead easy job.
Would you have a link to one like the 2nd one as its no longer for sale. And im tormented trying to find correct one. Thank you

Great thread! Gave me the info I needed to get my filter changed.
I don't have a primer bulb, so I filled the filter first by pouring diesel in the filter via a tube into the input side, then put a clear tube on the output side and sucked carefully to pull the bubbles through. The filter takes a surprising amount of fuel which is why it needs to be primed. Connected it all back up & the engine started without problem.

I was curious about the knobbly plastic thing on top of the filter so I undid it on the old filter, turns out to be the drain plug. The colour of the diesel that came out was reddish brown!
