Sounds exactly like my car.

I don't have an alarm fitted.
Are you sure your car has the optional alarm fitted?

When you turn off the ignition, you should get an option to have reduced guard. This is the way the interior sensors are turned off rather than a dedicated switch. There's also a way to make it the default through the menus

That was how my 2012 Drive SE Lux was but I don't have the car anymore. I'm sure someone on the forum could confirm

Well i had a look at that couldnt see anything come up when i turned ignition off and also in the menu (its in french lol but i managed to translate it to english) and there is no option either. So maybe it hasnt got an alarm and just doors lock with remote which is bad penny pinching by volvo not to have an alarm fitted only by option ??.

To be fair, how many times have you heard a car alarm and ignored it as they're usually false alarms.

More important is that it'll have an immobiliser as I believe they're required by European law.

I tested and is working, the alarm goes off.

I have alarm fitted, but whenever I leave the car I have to disable the interior motion sensor, if not goes off most of the time, especially when is warm and windy...too sensible. On the other had is nice to have the red light in the dash flashing!
