Default 480SE (Again!)

My 1993 2L 480SE has a strange vibration at around 2,500rpm that is driving me nuts! I swear it is just like the noise and vibration that you get when the exhaust tailpipe touches the bodywork (as the engine leans over under power) but it isn't that at all. The vibration is high pitched and it makes my bunch of keys, which are hanging in the ignition, buzz annoyingly and sets up a reverberation in the body. All the exhaust straps are fitted, the exhaust is well clear of the body, and I can't find any part of the engine/transmission which could possibly be touching the bodywork. Any ideas anyone?
