Default V40 T4 - Best Exhaust?

Hi all,

Pleased the forum is finally back up and running!!

My exhaust has been blowing a little while now, and had it booked in to get a new centre section today (not worth geting dirty @ £30 to fit!!). However, they couldn't fit it as the flange between the centre section and rear box is too rotton, and would damage the rear box.

So, is it worth just getting a rear box from Volvo (dealer only??) @ total - and then the £95 for the centre section, so a minimumof £250 for the standard set up. Or would I be better opting for a performance one?

I know Jetex are very good (we use their silencers on the racer and it homes a full race 4ltr V8 to under 105dB with only the rear box!). These seem to be a similar price. However, I don't want the sound to be any/much louder than std, but appreciate that Jetex may release some additional power/torque through less back pressure.

How much louder are Jetex on these, or are there any alternatives?

Many thanks in advance...

Dave

You could check out Ebay, there's a few t4 bits on there,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLVO-Jetex-Sp...d=p3286.c0.m14
This company advertises Jetex exhausts for the v40 at £237.57 though the website is down for maintenance at the moment.

Thanks for that - looks a little expensive though - P4V have them advertised for around £250ish on their website, not sure on the postage though. I'd imagine I could get one local, just wondering how much louder they are over standard? And if the claims of so much power is accurate?

I have the Jetex system fitted to my 2.0 n/a & I can tell you that it is no louder than the OEM system! Maybe a slightly deeper tone on idle but not much difference at all!

Couldn't tell you if it increased power as my car was never fast to begin with!

It is a heavy system so its worth replacing the rubber hangers as well to stop it knocking about underneath!

Thanks Firebolt! looks like I will be ordering a s/s jetex then! Will get a full fitting kit for rubbers etc too, and probably just DIY it - only got the bolts at the cat to remove i suppose... lol

Plus, s/s should last longer than mild steel I suppose?
