2003 (53) XC70 ECU Remap question
I have a 2003 XC 70 D5 engine (163bhp) and want the ecu remapped to around 200bhp but I’m having problems. It appears that it can’t be done on my car because the ecu has a chip that won’t talk to the remappers. So this will have to be unsoldered from the ecu and a ‘talkative’ one re-soldered in.
Quantum want the agent to remove the ecu and send it to them, but the agent doesnt want the overall responsibility. Celtic will do it but there is no warranty, and general remappers don’t have the mppf???????? to talk to the ecu to do the remapping via the obd socket... Can anyone shed light, assist or help or am I stuck with it as it is (or buy another car) Many thanks in anticipation. |

MTE / RICA / SHARK TUNING
They all do it using a softloader, The Chip inside the Bosch ecu is programmable , that tuner is telling you poo, at the most all that has to be done if they do not have a softloader, is remove the ecu put it on the bench and programing it in boot-mode that is very safe, you do not have to send your ecu to some one and be with out your car, Dave |

Super chips done today.
Ecu removed and old chip removed, new chip inserted and remapped to increase bhp and low down torque for towing and slight reduction in mpg. Giving values is a bit ‘pick a number’ or ‘mines bigger than yours’ style, but it does seem smoother on ordinary driving and maybe lower revving through the first 3/4 gears which kind of agrees with my comments. Early dash computer reads 2/3 mpg better, but of course very early days yet. I’m towing on Friday, so if there is a remarkable difference in feel, I’ll post sometime later. For now, seems good and ok 😀 Thanks Dave etc.. |
