V70 Mystery electrical plug ?
Just got our 2003 V70 D5 SE yesterday. Delighted with it but today I noticed an electrical plug under the bonnet that isn't plugged into anything. There is a wide plug that is fitted into the airflow sensor (next to air filter box) but coming off the same cable is another 2 pin plug that looks like it should be attached to something. I had a good look and couldn't see anywhere for it to go. Any ideas? I know most cars have diagnostic plugs located around the engine bay but this one doesn't look like that. Is my car missing something? It also doesn't look like an aftermarket add-on. It looks like it's original to the car.

plug
About 4 inches from the air flow sensor plug the wiring loom should be fixed to a bracket on the front of the air box. Also clipped to this bracket should be a valve with two vac pipes this should have a black two pin plug. If that is the plug you are referring to. (just had a look on my own D5)
This valve is the control for the pnuematic front and rear engine montings. If you are not sure p.m. me with your e-mail address and I will send you a photo. Paul.

Job Sorted!!!
I had another look in the daylight this morning. The vac pipe from the front engine mount disappeared up behind the top of the radiator. I gave it a little tug and out came the little valve unit. I plugged it back in and secured it on the clamp and hey presto! All back as it should be! I think what probably happened was that the garage that serviced it the other day must have unplugged it when they checked the air filter and forgot to replace it. I also had to drain out 2 litres (yes, 2 LITRES!!!) of engine oil this morning because the same dozy garage had overfilled the engine... good job I checked the oil level! Cowboys or what!!!
Thanks for all your help pc 654! |
