Default V50 Engine fault

I have had a V50 2L D SE for 2 years and it has been nothing but trouble. The turbo failed 3 months ago at 40k miles and there have been a host of other issues with it. The latest is the engine management putting the car in the reduced power mode for some reason. There are no warning messages other than it needs a service. I cannot believe this is the cause of the problem. Has anybody had similar issues ?

To be honest I think even with the bad trade in value of this car I will be getting rid of it and going back to VW which run and run and run !

Cheers
Richard

You will need to get the fault codes read to find out what is wrong. Is it saying something like "engine system service required" as if so that doesn't mean the car needs a scheduled service it's saying "help I'm broken please fix me"

Sorry to hear you've had bad luck with your car.

Cheers,
John

V50 2.D ( ford engine) did have a few problems , but right now they are all ironed out even on the old ones so persevere get it fixed and it will go on and on ...

The warning just says "time for regular service" on the dashboard. I drove it this morning and there wasn't an issue so it seems this could be an intermittent problem the hardest type to find !

Its going to the garage on Friday so hopefully the engine management will have kept a record of the fault.
Thanks for the advice

Ahhh OK, yes it sounds like an intermittent fault and as you say is very unlikely to be related to the car being due a service. There should be a stored fault code in there so fingers crossed the garage will be able to tell you what the problem is/was.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
John

"time for regular service"
Means just that , you are overdue for your service , No car problems just overdue for service .
