Default Service required message

I have had a service 2000 miles ago & at the time I cleared the service message by holding the tripometer & turning the ignition on, waiting for the ! icon to flash, releasing button & depressing again. This gets rid of the message. This has always worked in the past. Now the service message has appeard again & no matter what I do I cannot get rid of it, Can anyone help please? Thanks

Key in pos. I, press and hold tripometer, within 2seconds turn key to to pos.II, when ! icon begins to flash release tripometer within 4seconds and wait for the beep. Oh, and all doors, hood and boot have to be closed! not locked just closed shut.

I've tried this but it dosn't seem to work.

One thing I have noticed though, I don't get the beep!
