Alloy wheels
Good afternoon everyone.
I have been given a set of the mesh looking alloys from a 240 torslanda. They have 185/70/14 tyres on them which are like new. I like the look of these wheels but i'm unsure if they are going to upset the handling. I currently have the GLT alloys with 195/60/15s. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Ian |

RE: Alloy wheels
These wheels will fit OK. However the lower profile/wider the tyre the better the handling. I run all my cars on GLT wheels with 205/60 R 15s which give very good handling and roadholding. You will notice the difference if you drive the car fairly hard. If not you probably won't.

RE: Alloy wheels
Howdo, folks.
Further to the low profile discussion, the trade off with reduced profile is a harsher ride, due to the reduced flexibility of the truncated side wall. I'm v. old fashioned in that I quite like the slightly floaty feeling of my 740 estate running on full height tyres. Ever yours, Nick H, Vice-President of the Sad Old Git Club. |

RE: Alloy wheels
Thank you both for the response.
I think I will give them a go. A smoother ride and looks are of more importance to me than performance. Thanks Ian |

RE: Alloy wheels
Sounds as if you have made the right choice for yourself - handling requirements are very personal. Hope you are pleased with result!
