Default Help xc70 no boost

Just got 1 mile up the road. Pulled away at some lights and the car started to almost stutter. At the same I lost all power. At first I thought it may be in limp mode. I managed to pull up safely and took a look.

The car wouldn't let me rev the engine as normal, hesitant and slow to react. Eventually it would rev through the the range but slow. Also iv noticed a louder than usually exhaust sound, especially round the front right under the air filter housing.

I managed to drive the car but I have no boost whatsoever. Its sluggish and gutless.

Iv got no lights or warnings on the dash. Any ideas? As it stands I dont have a car :-/

Is that a boost issue such as a burst intercooler or associated pipes hence the noise you heard?

How would I diagnose a burst intercooler?

Plus, would that cause the car to start, stutter and then stall in a just a few seconds?

Where is that located?

It's almost now like it has no fuel. Starts up, checks, stalls

The whole system will be out of wad. Turbo not spooling, computer recognising this, fuelling all over the place...should have fault codes.

As Volvo for ever says make a visual check to see if charge pipes/resonator/intercooler are intact.
You heard a noise, investigate where it came from.

I'm going to jack it up tomorrow and start looking.

My fear is that it's a sensor. I'll have no way of knowing without something that can scan codes

I tried using my bluetooth OBDII reader and it keeps saying no connection to ECU.

May be jumping the gun but what would be the signs if the ECU failed?

Well spent all morning taking apart what I could.

Took off every sensor and cleaned with electrical contact spray.

Checked all hoses and pipes. All good

Took EGR apart and cleaned. It was very dirty.

Put it back together and it started but stuttered, choked up and then stalled.

It seems that when I start the engine and apply throttle it stalls alot quicker than if I just start the car.

Unfortunately now it wont start at all because the battery is dead. The battery has been poor for a long while. If I leave the radio on without the car running for say 30 mins it struggles to start.

Iv put the battery on charge and will try again later.

Things iv noticed, the swirl flap it's making a buzzing noise after the car stalls. If I operate the arm manually it goes. Is this normal?

Its defo more throaty around the EGR valve. My neighbour who is an ex mechanic said that usually points towards a failed or stuck egr. Would that make sense? If its failed would cleaning it make any difference?
