Default Which radiator - 940 2.3T Manual with AC

I need a new radiator for my 940 2.3T manual with AC.

GSF recommended the Nissens 65531a but I was advised that it doesn't fit my car by another supplier.

Can anyone recommend a suitable option please?

First measure your radiator. Second, draw a "map" of the radiator and add the dimensions.

Armed with your pretty picture and useful numbers on it, have a trawl through this :

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/174032/i....o+940+radiator

I've long since given up on GSF as they are so frequently wrong, especially on Volvo parts (ironic seeing as they started by being specialist Saab, Volvo and BMW, Mercedes suppliers) and their prices tend to be on the high side.

Also i've come across other suppliers that have different recommendations in their catalogues to what is actually fitted on particular vehicles or they list an iem as fitting but insist you send your reg number then tell you the item you've found won't fit but they do have the correct item in stock for ten times the price! No exaggeration, i was actually quoted more than 10 times the cost of the correct item for one i knew wouldn't fit and thesupplier had already caqncelled my order for the cheaper one!

Default Nissens 65531A

I recently replaced the radiator of my manual 940 LPT + AC and should still have the Nissens original box at home. I will check the part no tonight, though I am pretty sure it is 55531A.
There will be more radiator models that will fit, but a turbo/AC version will have the largest capacity available, because cooling air will first pass through the AC condensor and intercooler before going through the radiator.
Also check out this Dutch supplier web page:
https://www.estateservices.nl/motor/...radiators.html
You can narrow down the selection by selecting Volvo model 940, but it gives a complete overview with pictures and dimensional drawings.
The alternative Nissens models with the same cooling block size will only be different in the hose connection layout. Smaller cooling block sizes will probably also fit, I even heard of owners exchanging the largest size radiator for a non-turbo version (I presume 65537A), as this radiator is less tall and not sticking out underneath the chassis crossmember. The turbo version is more easily damaged by road dirt because of this part sticking out underneath. We do not have tropical temperatures over here, so apperently the slightly lower cooling capacity is still sufficient.

This also suggests your initial part number was correct https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/...ier%5B0%5D=123

As promised yesterday, I checked the label on the box and p/n 65531A is definitely the correct radiator for a 940 LPT/AC/manual. Perfect fit, no issues.
