Post Volvo 1995 850 sedan dashboard lights

Hi, thanks for reading,
My mum has a 95 volvo that she bought 2nd hand, The lights in the dash board, gear select and heater / air controls dont come on / work.
The dimmer is correctly positioned.
Sometimes when she starts it she says the lights come on for a second and then go off again.
We have checked all the fuses and i believe its supposed to be fuse 35. They are all ok.
Please help.
Thanks Maddy.

Default 850 dash etc lights

I was alerted to your query as I have a 1993 850 sedan.(posh word for saloon).I have checked Haynes and that shows fuse 35 for Ashtray lighting.instrument and control lighting etc.
Only thing that I can suggest, although I expect you have already tried it,is to remove and replace the fuse.Tarnish on contacts have resulted in many unnecessary repairs.
Regards
Ron

sounds like a faulty dimmer cross the spades on the swithch connector at the back of the switch, with a piece of wire ,switch ignition on if they work its your dimmer switch, before doing this give the dimmer a good wiggle lol
