Default Fault code P2008

Many thanks for the guidance on this thread.

I had the same problem on my newly acquired 2004 S40 1.8SE, and none of the mechanics that I consulted could come up with a specific diagnostic, so I had to advise them from the information on this thread.

The solenoid was replaced yesterday and so far the warning light has not come on again.

Fingers crossed!

It's a really easy job to do, everything is accessible should take 5-10 minutes.
Hi rmdavy
Did you have to buy the swirl valve directly from Volvo?

Great forum!

The ECM-2008 is the same error as P2008.
I have now bought the part 31375551 and I am going to pick it up tomorrow.

Anyone know what kind of tools I need and maybe could provide a picture of where exactly the solenoid is located?

I Have the Volvo s40 1.8l petrol 2006

Thanx in advance!

After a couple of trips to the shops etc, stopping and starting, the light went out and hasn't come back on since. The relief I can tell you was superb, I've had this problem for 6 months and now feels like I have the car I wanted when I bought it, so a big thanks to RMDAVY for finding the solution and taking the time to post on here, I owe you a pint
Bought and changed mine today. It wasnt that easy.. the only hard thing was to get to the screw under the cable harness. After a lot of bending and stuff i got it

Started the engine, let it idle.. stopped.. started.. etc.. and also went for a trip to store for shopping food. Driving back home.. but check engine is still on. Maybe my issue isnt fixed? maybe its something else? Please help.

Hi orfeous,

I will be attempting the swirl control solenoid replacement this Thursday.
Quick question, do you need to disconnect the battery in order to replace the solenoid? Is it a 10 minute job?

Thanks,
Adrian
