854 for possible sale in Glasgow
Hi All,
Just gauging interest and some of your valuation expertise. My old man's has had his Volvo 850 since new and finally has gone for a new V70. Dealer says his cars worth £50 scrap so need to know if its worth posting here and for how much or else she's off to be recycled!! Details: Model: 850 GLT saloon Engine: 2.0 20V petrol Transmission: Manual Year: 1994 (October) Mileage: 174900 No previous owners Supplied by: Linn Volvo in Glasgow (since taken over by Murray Volvo) and has original dealer stickers (Linn had strange sense of humour and use to Linnengineering or Linnfatstic etc on its cars!) Full Volvo Service History since new, all done by Linn Volvo or Murray Volvo in Glasgow, last serviced at 170000 & maintenance schedule followed so all work done at appropriate time (service manager at dealer can be phoned as its the oldest 850 he maintains and knows my dad well) No mechanical or electrical issues whatsoever, no warning lights Relatively new michelin tyres (5mm all round) Interior is in very good condition (non smoker, no pets etc) Bad bits: Its in Signal (non metallic) red which has turned pink all round, despite several attempts to get it back to red, just goes back to pink after few months 2 rust areas on both front wings, drivers side is particularly bad and new wing would be needed Some small dents in passenger door and rear bumper Drivers door clunks on opening and closing (and dealer has attempted to fix a few times) Glovebox does not open (if new owner opens it, will pay postage for returning items!) Taxed and MoT'd until end of September. The car has been fantastic and been 100% reliable (except for faulty fuel pump which kept stalling car few years back and which voc members diagnose - fab), no breakdowns at all. Gearbox & clutch is original. Car still feels (unbelievably) tight and good to drive. Would be a shame to scrap it. So whats it worth gentlemen (and ladies)! Nice car -Pop some photos up!
I think with the damage it has, around the £400-£500 mark would be fair. The wings sounds like a bit of a let down, as these cars rarely rust. If you can get them sorted, maybe an extra £100-£150?

If it does go for scrap, its worth a fair bit more than £50.

£250 must be top whack with failed paint, rusted wings, etc. Scrap yards close to me would be unlikely to give £175 for it, more like £100.
If you have the space/time/skill the most money made from it would be break it yourself and sell bits on here. Especially if you have alloys, spoilers, good interior must be worth a few quid.
