Not sure where the central parts depots are, but this will determine same day / next day.
The dealer here looks at the car in the morning and orders the parts that come around lunch time and then are fitted by the end of the day. Sometimes there's a wait if Volvo UK doesn't have stock and it has to come in from Sweden but that is fairly rare.

Very interesting. I have just ticked over 32k and have still not had any issues. I intend to speak to my dealer and Volvo UK at around my 36k service to make sure that they will foot any bills should this problem rear its ugly head outside the warranty period.

Does anyone have a method of identifying for certain whether a Volvo has the D4 VEA engine which is the subject of the issues.

There were so many engine variations through the affected period that I for one would like an easy way of telling if my next or current Volvo is affected.

My D4 XC60 , is a March 15 registered car, has 2400cc , 169 g/km, is AWD and my dealer tells me that the 2400 cc is not the affected engine. However, I have found its always wise to check with the experts here.

FWIW he also said there is a major recall under way and I would have had a letter.

I have read a lot of pages on this thread and have not found precisely which engine is affected. I plan to buy SWMBO a recent V40 , hence the interest.

Many thanks.

On an XC60 the engine that is affected is to only be found on a front wheel drive version. If the car has AWD then it has the original 5cyl engine, 2.4litre and is unaffected.

Regards, Arianne

But not all 2 litre engines are VEA. Pre-MY14.5 they are not VEA.
Non-VEA are 1984cc. VEA are 1969cc.

Perhaps they are getting ready to launch a 3+3 (ie, 6-cylinder 3-litre) !

There are 6 cylinder 3 litres but not part of the VEA range. Namely....

B27. B28. B30. B280. B6304. B6284T. B6304 new series transverse. Mostly VME engines Latterly badged T6 or Polestar T6 which ceased with the introduction of the VEA range.
