Followed with interest. I remember the days before Bridge No1, without the Japanese 'attachments', when you had to go North via Ponsonby etc. ChCh is always good for parts as I found out last year.

I have nissens made radiators in both my 940 and 240. The 940 also has a nissens condenser for the AC.

At least your Volvo will be soon fixed, My 940 rad had a split on the top hose stub, which is common to break.

James

New radiator in - no issues. Road test and no subsequent damage from the over heating.

Simple actually.

And the local guy suspects he has a heater matrix as well. Gotta get the bollocks together to take on that 8 hours of misery

Go on Ash - you know you want to!

Seriously though, glad you've got it sorted, for now at least!

How bad is the heater matrix or are you contemplating it on the grounds that if the radiator has curled up its toes, the matrix can't be too far behind?

Had to do the fan blower motor on my old 240. Tis a PITA. I couldn't find a matrix. Spoke to Tony, The Old Volvo Man Barret at Brookhouse. He advised 'if it ain't broke......'. I took it out and flushed it through and clean water came out. So did as advised and stuffed it back in. That was three years back.
Hopefully yours will be in a similar state.
So I wouldn't worry too much .
Hi James, Nissens are very good aren't they. The one I put on Tank in 06/7 still looked new when I sold in April this year .

Hi Dave - "soggy carpet in the driver footwell" bad...

And the slightly sweet smell of au d'antifreeze permeating the cabin of the car.

That would be a good enough reason to psych yourself up Ash!

I'm sure you've checked to make sure it's not the hoses, Jubilee clips or anything daft so it looks like a weekend changing the matrix sometime soon!
