So it would seem therefore that there is no BS standard for road-grade LPG, unlike petrol and diesel?

Hi
You dont get more for your money , you pay as the amount that goes into the tank , you get more fuel in the cold weather as the LPG compress more in the cold and expands with the heat .

Further confirmation that quality varies:
My last fill-up was at a cheap place I discovered on an industrial estate. The immediate effect was a poor , uncertain idle, the edge was taken off the car's performance, and calculation shows markedly poorer mpg.
Refilling today at my normal outlet the car runs how it used to, good idle and pulling well again.

So the moral appears to be, cheap gas is often of inferior quality, and any saving is lost in poorer performance.
The common factor in each case was that the outfit appeared to mainly specialise in heating gas rather than proper road fuel. The warning signs are cages of big red cylinders in a pot-holed yard.

I agree with the quality in LPG, although in Southampton I can get LPG for 45ppl (at an LPG conversion center) and Winchester only 15 miles away is 57.9 ! It does run smooth and have more power on the expensive shell but what a price difference !
