There is a person on YouTube called ‘auditing Britain’. He goes place to place filming in public and workers come out telling him ‘government building’ not allowed to film here. Usually the police are called who then tell the building managers he is perfectly entitled to film. We have now become a nation of grasses and ‘I am not allowed to do it so neither are you’.

It makes me question the whole validity of these surveys they do. Me personally if someone writes to me and says ‘please complete this census, it’s only every 10 years and we really appreciate it’ then fine. But when threatened from the get go my attitude is ‘shove it up your a55’ and I put anything down. I am sure others must feel the same.
What actually got me with the Census is that all over the news, adverts etc it was stressed that "you MUST complete it by the 21st March".

Opened up the envelope expecting a normal paper form possibly with a link to a website to complete it online but no, it was a letter with a link to complete it online, further down there was a short reference to obtaining a paper form instead but you had to visit a website to request that. First bone of contention.

Second bone is that despite all the advertising, it said i must fill it in on or as soon as possible after, the 21st.

As it was about the 17th or 18th, i thought "What the hell, i'll do it now" so followed the link and a short while later had an email confirming my completed Census form was recieved and all good.

If these inconsistencies exist in what is meant to be an incredibly important form, what hope do they have of getting other things correct?

However they will still expect us to know all about the correct way of abiding by the law but they can't state it clearly themselves.

Thank you! I'd filled in all of the details a week and a half ago but never actually submitted it!

To be fair the leaflet did say you can fill it in before hand and go back and change it if circumstances changed. It also gave a phone number to ask for a paper form so even my old dad would've managed. If he hadn't died last October of course.

I didn't see the bit about the phone number (by the time i'd read the url for asking for a paper form for those who didn't have computer access or at least the same implications by the words used, i ignored the rest in disgust) but it also asked for the names of people staying overnight on the 21st.

Who would fill that in? It was against the law under Covid Laws to have anybody staying or for anybody to stay elsewhere other than their usual home. Multiple convictions provided by inadvertent confession in one fell swoop!

The way i understood this last lockdown, even people from support bubbles staying overnight were illegal, except for those with a condition that required other people for care. I could be wrong on that as i've never really understood these bubbles.

Half the trouble is the rules have been changed so often about everything, with and without extra codeciles each time so it's nigh on impossible to keep up.

Overnight stays with your support bubble is/was allowed.
But yes I agree - the constantly changing rules have been difficult to keep track of. Fingers crossed they're on the way out - permanently.

I'll take your word for it on that one but won't put it to the test for two reasons, One, i don't have a support bubble and two, the govt are just as likely to change their mind and make it illegal without anybody knowing!

The rule changes have seriously been a nightmare though, almost (maybe a bigger nightmare) as bad as the virus itself.
