If you're adding more oil than specified you run the risk of oil forcing its way out of seals etc because its got nowhere else to go. Stick to the specified quantities.

The sump drain plug is about 4cm above the bottom of the sump so my suction tube reaches to the bottom and removes more oil.
Its a myth that this method leaves behind crud.
Nothing to do with gravity or the power of suction.

i suspect most garages don't bother to remove the under shield and do oil changes this way.
I only fill to the top mark so no danger of overfilling ( non diesel )
Each to their own though.
