I've seen a few 14 plate xc70 d4's around and I was wondering if they had the new engine yet?

FWD or AWD?

Not sure about the 14 plate ones you have seen, but new ones currently do - 1969cc (D4204T5) - so long as you go for front wheel drive only - which kind of defeats the object of an XC70 - meaning you may as well go for a V70 - which is cheaper. The AWD XC70 D4's are detuned 2.4 D5's. Volvo aren't going to pair AWD with the new VEA engine for a while yet.

Probably it isn't. The VEA petrol engines are out in the V70 elsewhere, so volvo's decision not to bring them here looks like it's final.

Hopefully the V90 will bring the petrols back.
