wierd volvo windscreen gutters

the t5r ive bought has some wierd volvo clear windscreen gutters. these seem to have been fitted to stop water running off the screen and into the cab. anyway they rattle in head winds so ive taken them off, but i just wondered if this was a t5r thing or a volvo aftermarket gimic. also is there any t5r specific fuel filler cap? cause ive got some plastic volvo one on it at the minute.

I think you'll find that the item you refer to is infact a wind deflector, to enable the driver to have their window open without a draught.

nope these are fitted to the sides of the windscreen and clip to the glass under the rubber. there like a thin strip with arches all the way along to let water in i think.

Yep, they're a genuine volvo accessory designed to stop water from streaming round the side of the windscreen and onto the front side windows. I found the problem very accute and a real pain in very wet weather or when using the wash-wipe; water ran round onto the side window right in front of where you look into the mirrors. My Dad and I both fitted these 'gutters' to our 850s; they worked really well and we certainly never had a problem with them rattling. If you can get them fitted securely, in my opinion they're worth having. The newer models had a different arrangement at the side of the windscreen so the water was taken up onto the roof. I don't know why Volvo didn't do that in the first place!

Hi Guys,

I know what you mean too. The two clear plastic pieces that attach undeneath the grey roof trim. Unfortunately they still don't really work. I went the Whole hog and replaced my grey roof strips with a newer design that as them built into the rubber, like the 400 series. I still suffer on my drivers side with screen wash sneaking around.

But I find they still dont work. My window still gets streaks of water running past the mirrors
