Whilst being a member here, I'm also a member of the VW T4 forum which has introduced a £10 fee payable by paypal. Before everybody leaps up in condemnation here are the reasons: open forums such as this attract a lot of what I call flakes i.e. people who breeze in with obscure faults looking for quick / cheap fixes only to disappear & never be heard of again without even the courtesy to update on cure etc (some s/h dealers?) obviously these people are not Volvo enthusiasts & have nothing to offer this forum. From time to time we also seem to attract others (prob. BMW drivers) who arrive here intent on subtle winding up; a £10 fee would filter out these time wasters & refine/improve the forum. I for one would not quibble at £10 a year & would hope that other true Volvo enthusiasts would be happy to contribute for a more helpful, engaging forum. Incidently, only the technical areas are locked on the VW T4 forum. Comments please

I take it the tenner is a problem for you lol. Some positive, thought out comment would be nice rather than puerile, sarcastic spoutings.

Those of us who are VOC members are already essentially paying through our membership fees. However club member only forums can be a very bad idea imho.

Less moralistic, opinionated preaching would be preferable as this is a friendly forum.

To some of us who are unfortunately out of work an additional £10 to post here would indeed be a burden, particularly on top of the annual membership fee.

could not have put it better myself.

a tenner a problem to me ? don't make me laugh I've always paid cash for my cars, as a matter of fact I also paid cash for the last two houses I've lived in.

No the problem with hobbyhorse is, besides the obvious lack of a sense of humour. He is one of these people who likes to own and managed other peoples opinions. He believes he is all knowing in that regard, when in fact he actually comes across to me as being rather anal retentive.

But hey that's what you get on public forums, diverse input and opinion.

My comment was ment to be a short humorous, NO VOTE

As the VOC members already fund the forum through their memberships I don't think it would be right for a further charge to be made.

Cheers,
John

OK calm it down please. The thread will be locked if personal remarks and disparaging comments about other peoples posts continue to be made.

Thanks,
John
