1980 RHD Volvo 265 in Holland
I'd go for this 1980 RHD Volvo 265 in Holland, but it has obvious rot – see offside rear wing in photo 2, though to be fair the price reflects condition. How easy would it be to restore this to a sanitary state?

Now that is a rare beast! 2.8 PRV with a manual overdrive gearbox wow! Low 78,000 miles as well.

If you want to use the aircon then you may want to check whether it has been converted from R12 to R134a. If you don't do it yourself, this can be quite a pricey conversion.

I know it's early morning but on the pictures I see on the screen the steering wheel is definitively situated in the Right Hand Side... and since all text on license plate and instruments still add up in readable text it won't be a mirrored picture either. I'd say the text overview is wrong and it's RHD alright.

Restoring a 200
I'm going to spend my retirement buffing up a couple of Volvo models I've always fancied – a 164 and a 265 – if I can find them! I've a 740 estate, but I've nil experience of other models. How difficult would it be to restore a 265? The Dutch RHD example has bad rot but is one I'd go for – are body parts available etc?

I like your plan! Have a look through my project threads and you'll see some of the rust spots of both 164 and 200 estate. (pretty long, so get a cuppa ready!) http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=159425 http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=60815 164-specific panels are tricky to find. Generic parts like rear arches and spare wheel wells are easy. I converted 200 doors to fit the 164, but it's difficult. Most 200 panels can be found, but if your 265 is the early type, front wings and headlights are rare, as are 260-specific trim parts like the chrome wheelarch trims. As with any old car purchase, the rule is buy the best you can afford Cheers John |
