Default Tyre Pressure?

Finding my XC60 a bit bumpy over our potholed country roads. I was thinking or reducing the tyre pressure to help smooth out the ride. Can anyone suggest what would be the lowest tyre pressure to run on while keeping the car safe?

Cheers,

Sven

From memory I ran mine at 32psi, it was the lowest recommended option. Running higher meant I felt every bump and I did not like that.

I think eco was 39 and was too hard
36 was comfortable for me and if I remember the general concensus at the time of asking around.

Follow Considered's advice. I couldn't remember the pressure but he still has an XC60 to check against. 36 sounds about right.

I run at 37 on the 17” in winter tyres and 36 on the 18” summer tyres

What is your current pressure when "bumpy" ?

Generally when you feel pot hole bumps your pressures are too LOW not too high ... you need 38 at least in the front if you drive over pot holes otherwise the tyre is too soft to protect the rims from getting bent , and costing from £350 to £1000 each now a very expensive hobby !

^^^ ... and a good reason to avoid rubber band tyres. 17"/18" are the sensible choice if you live in pothole land.
