Thanks to Clan and Volvo for ever for describing the modification, it gave me confidence when I seen they had done the hoses as described, car has been across the continent and back since the job was done without issue, I really didn’t want to drive that on a code reset and a clean!

Hello All,

My XC60 D4 (190bhp) September 65 plate car has been diagnosed with the EGR vault today by Clive Brook in Huddersfield. I now have to wait two weeks for the parts to arrive before it can get sorted been driving round since Easter with the amber light on as it two weeks to get it in.

Also the seatbelt release mechanism has gone as well - have to lean forward to get it to release. Clive Brook took a dirty car and returned it filthy too!

I asked about DTMF and they said “we don’t have them problems, but BMW do” hmmm porkie pies.

The parts are either in short supply or Clive Brook are not very smart.
I thought the parts hub for the north of England was in Leeds.

Clive Brook have cited authorisation from Volvo before they could order the parts. Short supply I suspect and lead time before I can my car in again on the 9 May

Snap, I have had both those faults in the last couple of months, first the drivers seatbelt buckle, fixed the next day. Had the egr cooler and pipework update done last week. Reported the orange dash light to dealer on the Monday, and told to take my car in on Friday, I thought this was just for diagnostics but on arrival they said they had all the parts waiting to go on, a hour later and it was done. Can't fault the dealership.

Ps., mine too is a September 65 plate, 19k. miles

Funny one that. Ray Chapman York ordered the EGR parts in for me before the car even went in for the engine warning light 'diagnosis'. As it happened it was a sooted oxygen sensor, but they were quite happy to do this to avoid me having to make a second visit. Enough said.

Taggarts Volvo diagnosed the fault for me when it was booked in (a 2 day wait for a slot) but the repair was authorised that day (Friday of a bank holiday weekend) the parts arrived PM on the Tuesday (next working day) and were fitted the morning after, so no real delays there other than the appointment, the parts (next day other than the holiday weekend) so the 2 weeks is a bit pish frankly. That’s Mercedes Benz style waiting!

As its such a common issue, I am surprised they dont keep a D4 kit on the shelf as it must be more economic than 2 bookings.

Does anybody thought of a way removing, bypassing, blanking off egr? My14.5 cars are getting out of their warranty, would be it an option? I imagine mpg figures should improve

This is exactly why when I buy another car I cannot risk a private sale and I will insist any car is sent to a dealer or specialist for a full check over and report.

Hi all ignorance was bliss. High performance bliss. Then at 21,000 miles on my 2016 S80 and the oil service light first then check engine followed. This is my first ever diesel and first ever Volvo. EGR cooler and new pipes fitted under warranty. The car drives like a slug being pulled by two snails. Then I find this thread and I am not alone. On this thread approx page 50, end of 2015 early 2016 the good people like 007 and Tinkerer report the new engine map is a tactical fix with loss of power at sub 2000 revs. Fast forward to May 2018 and page 176 of this thread and that same 'fix' has been applied to my car.

Is this as good as it gets? Or is there a fix for the fix?
Good luck to everyone!
Mimi
