DMF Vs SMF
Unfortunately the clutch pressure plate has gone on my 2011 S40 1.6D. Planning on replacing the flywheel as well.
what are your thoughts on replacing the dmf for a solid mass flywheel ? Thanks |

I think its a good idea if you are doing track days, but for day to day I would just keep the SMF

Don't do it on a diesel unless you want to go full tractor mode and shorten the life of the clutch and box.

Can't see the 1.6D being much of a track car myself though :P

I am planning on replacing the clutch/flywheel myself. Is it a relatively easy job to do?
Has anyone replaced the clutch/flywheel on their S40 1.6D, any tips will be highly appreciated Thanks |

Could be done on the driveway but screw that for a bag of smashed crabs! You may need a special pre-tensioning tool for the clutch but I am not certain with your engine/box config.
