Default volvo V50 limp mode!!

Car: Volvo V50 2L diesel SE
Hey guys!

I am very new to volvos and forums so bare with and forgive me for any ignorance of both!

So, bought this car at an auction. beautiful car to drive, runs great and in great condition. After a week of driving 30+ miles a day to work there was no problems what so ever! But one day coming home from work i was accelerating up to a 50 zone and the car just stop giving power, still ran and drive but no power [limp mode]. But turn the car off and on again and its 100% fine and will continue to be fine driven hard or not until the next random time. [not consistent]

I am on here to ask if anyone has a good guide on how to identify my car e.g. euro3/4/5 and so on and also if there are any recommendations on car code scanners so i can identify any problems and fix them myself without handing over my keys to a dealer or garage.

Cheers guys!

The 7th digit of your VIN code should be the euro emissions code. 3, 4, 5 or E (also 5). Pretty sure it's also on your V5 document but could be wrong.

My money is on the DPF either needs an Eolys fluid top up, or there is a fualt with it - the pipes are known to corrode.
