Default Lubricating door latches

Hi,

This weeks little maintenance job is relubing my door catches ( had the drivers door open message with the roof down this week). Am thinking of Degreasant spray first then lubricating with silicone or white lithium spray, what would you use and how much?

I'm thinking white lithium grease with the straw as far in as I can get and a fair amount to get it in all the right spots? Any other ideas/suggestions?

Andy

Advice from Clan the senior Volvo tech on this forum is not to use grease, because it attracts dirt, which creates more easily the very conditions under which the doors unlock on the move. Good ol' WD40 is the way to go! Takes 5 minutes either side including manipulating the rocker back and forth by hand a few times to work it in, and should be fine if you just repeat once every year while you own the car. It's what Volvo themselves would originally have done in a dealer service.

Thanks Proghound, I was under the impression that WD40 dried out and wasn't the best thing for the job but I've already benefited from Clans expertise so will go with it!
