Throttle Sticking?
Hi,
I have a 96 850 T5 and when travelling above 40ish and release the throttle the engine takes a second or so to respond, at idle when you blip the throttle all is ok, is this caused by the turbo still spinning and taking time to wind down? If so what else could it be? help because it is beginning to annoy me. I suppose one option is to never slow down!!! |

RE: Throttle Sticking?
It's an engine management thing, most catalyst-equipped cars manage the fuel injection & ignition timing to get a progressive (i.e. slow)fall-off in rpm to avoid lots of unburnt hydrocarbons in the exhaust. This is made worse with turbo cars because of the forced induction.
Later cars are better in this respect but it's still there ... |

RE: Throttle Sticking?
You may find that that you can gain some improvement by some general cleaning of the inlet pipework and replacement of the vacuumn lines to the turbo and particularly the one that comes off the end of the inlet manifold behind the power steering pump and ends at the turbo inlet.
The rubber elbows are likely to be perished and the nipple at the turbo end blocked. Cleaning the throttle body and the idle air valve will help as well. Hope this helps. |
