Default 850R hole in piston

My beloved 850R has been off the road for nearly 2 years with a hole in piston 4.

Apart from that it runs fine lol.

The time has come to either repair it or break it 😥 and I really really don't want to break it.

What do you guys recommend? New engine or is the old one repairable?

The big question is what caused the damage in the first place, and how much damage has been done to other parts?

Complete T5 engines are not massively expensive.

I can't recall a Monty Python car mechanic sketch but that would have been a line from it. My fear with stripping it and rebuilding would be what else will one find, but then a 'replacement' engine could have as much trouble lurking in it, I've done both ways in the past and always had lingering doubts over the costs and the cars had other issues too, and equally I've scrapped cars I wish I'd mended and kept, but if heart overrules head for an R ...

Thing is, even if I get rid of this one, I'm going to end up buying another bloody R or T-5R anyway, and I've already done lots of work to this one.

So the question is how the hell do I get a T-5 engine. And how do I get it to Belfast. And who fits it. Urgh.

He's got a bad case nurse, bring the medication

I've not looked for Volvo engines but in looking for parts for my daughters car I seem to get quite a few replies from southern Ireland when using the online car breakers search sites (google 'car breakers' and there's a few of them), given the nonsense of getting things across the Irish Sea at the moment that might be easier.
