I did the reflectors last year.nightmare job to do.I ended up using a dremmel to saw off the bolts.
Update on the bumpstops
the bracket is still there,so I BUMPED it up the list LOL .It looks like a simple nut bolt and washer job, which is a shame as I was looking forward to finding a nice stick. The more organic parts that go on the 240 the better I think, for its green credentials

And don't forget the moss on the rear lenses mostly at the top.

Yes indeed a bump stop is a testable item and should fail if it is not there for obvious reasons , a full loaded car going at speed over a large bump and the wheel is likely to rub hard on the inner arch possibly causing the car to spin .

Most cars these days dont have external bump stops so the new generation of MOT examiners are not used to looking for them , much the same as when they test a car with king pins , these days no play is allowed but with king pins you are allowed a small amount but the modern Examiner will fail them!

Replace the 240 rerar bump stops as soon as possible , they do tend to fall off and if they arent there and unless you have a well imformed examiner he's likely to miss them ..

( MOT Examiner 1976 - 1991 )

thanks for the info clan.Ive fitted the one i found easily.
There is no way I'm paying 50 notes for a bit of rubber from the dealer so I'll find the other one second hand somewhere.

can we get back to the sillyness now?

Default MoT Bump stops

Hi,
My favourite Mot tester (a gruff old git in Scotland who was nevertheless very thorough and reasonable) did fail me on a missing bump stop one year.

I suppose if any part of the car is missing that can fall foul of the mot test then it could..but in my case the genius of having no bump stops as opposed to having only which can attract the attention of the would be scrutineer..I have no doubt that this will be not an issue when my old bus comes up for MOT..but something more like.."sir..did you know your car is falling in half!"...cheers hj....ps the more fond of my old bus i become...the harder it is to hang onto it!!...Scrap my 240 for two grand!!..you must be out of your tiny!!
