In January 2011 I picked up 4 x Falken ZE912 225/45R 17 at Camskill for £62 each, and £30 to fit/balance all round.
My local trade supplier cannot buy them for the price that Camskill are selling them at ! I have covered just over 1000 miles, and can confirm that are an outstanding tyre at sensible money. Check out www.camskill.co.uk

SP2's are great tyres, Continental Sport Contact, Uniroyal Rainsport, Falken ZE912s and FK452s are also excellent. I wouldn't put the Avon ZV series near my car (or yours). I had them on my Saab 9-5 Aero and they were in no way even close to being competent with 230bhp going through them, they are the 2nd worst tyres I've had on a car. The only tyres I've had that have been worse than the Avons were Pirelli P6000 ditchfinders.
Falken ZE912s are £62.50 a corner from Camskill at the moment and are in a different league from the Avon ZV5: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...m54b0s16p12922 |

Just put Pirelli's on mine.
Seem fine to me, were £120 each inc valve and fitting + VAT. Last one's were Mitchelin, and they were awful.

Hey im also running the Avon's on my car aswell. Good all round tyres, although they lack the extra grip in wet weather. I had to overtake a tractor and put my foot hard down, and the t/c backed the power off in 3rd gear on a wet road.

I've had my V70 from new for nine years now, & always fitted P6000s when the fronts wear out (moving the rears to the front, & putting new ones on the rear). I'd always given up on reading internet recommendations in the past, since every tyre seemed to get equal numbers of 'brilliant' & 'terrible' comments.
However I put a couple of Uniroyal Rainsport 2s on last month (on the front, since if they were indeed 'better', then I didn't want grippier tyres on the back than the front). So far (few hundred miles, mixed), they are much better in the wet: slow, tight corners with the P6000s would often let me get a little controlled understeer slide (no DSTC). The Uniroyals just don't do that, & they seem to behave in the wet like the P6000s did in the dry. There is some additional road noise at low speeds, however, & I first thought that I was getting some slight diff whine, but having talked to some one else & listened some more, it's the tread on the Rainsports. Assuming the wear is OK, then I'd certainly recommend them. Tim. |

Apart from being useless in the snow if you drive much off the main roads, I quite like the michelins, they seem quieter than most and don't tramline as much as some. But as you'll have seen, opinions differ, and I strongly respect all earlier opinions.
However, one big vote in favour of Michelins is that Costco are currently (til 3rd July) running a 20% discount if you buy four. The bill for four 225/45 91W Primacy HP last week came in at just over £380. Only thing if you go to Costco, hang onto your old valve caps, as they'll replace them with ridiculous-looking luminous green things (to advertise the fact that they're filled with nitrogen). To their credit though, I've witnessed them actually using a hand-operated torque wrench for tightening, which earns them a very big brownie point from me. |

I've recently fitted Michelin PS3's, made a big difference to the car. Smooth ride, quiet, no tramlining or wandering and they don't rub on full lock! The steering is light on my S60 too, it was before fitting PS3's and still is, but the car feels far better in corners on these tyres than the Dunlop Sport Maxx I had fitted previously. Here's a couple of PS3 reviews . . . http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Mi...port-3-PS3.htm John.

I'm on Falken 452s, theyve done 9500miles and still have 3.5-4mm and I have a reasonably heavy foot. They're very good in the dry, fairly quiet on the motorway, good in standing water and coped with the snow admirably. Theyre not so good on damp roads though.
