Default Rear Wiper

Is it just me, or does the rear wiper arm not lift up??

Trying to clean the back window and went to pull the wiper up to wash underneath and it barely lifted an inch of the glass.
Not wanting to force anything I just did what I could.

Is there knack or is just that its new and has a very strong spring?

It should just lift and click into “clean” position - shouldn’t be stiff to lift and should stay in the clean position until you are ready to put it back down onto the rear glass.

I've not had to wash my xc90 yet , not had it that long, but on my other car the rear wiper can be a bit stiff at first but just needs a wee push to get it to lift up.

Seems it was just very stiff to lift up.... I tentatively gave it a go last night and got it to move about halfway up. Still restrictive as it didn't want to sit right up like most wipers do. Am I supposed to put wipers in the "service" position from the sensus system?

Seems it only goes up halfway looking a this: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...de-rear-window

The Service Position on the Sensus screen only refers to the front wipers.

The rear wiper just needs lifting away manually from the rear screen.

That link you posted also says "There is a lock position at half extension angle that may feel like resistance, this lock prevents the arm from falling back against the windscreen. The wiper arm must be pulled past the lock for wiper blade replacement." Not sure if the stiffness you're referring to is the lock position or just the end of the travel for that hinge.

If it's really tough, a wee squirt of penetrating oil will loosen things up.
