Default Mystery part

Hi all

When I lifted up the right hand cargo area panel on my 1998 V70 T5 this morning, I found a part that I have never seen before. One end connects to a 1/2 inch transparent hose and the other end looks broken. The whole assembly is just lying loose. The part is full of water!

The part number on it is 9133304
https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/p...1/9133304.html

Volvo calls it a sound trap

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283514573737

The previous owner had fitted reversing sensors and had used that hole for reversing light wiring.

If I look at two other V70s, the one with a sunroof has that part (the unit is pushed loosely into the grommet in the well under that right hand carpet) , and the one without a sunroof doesn't have it at all AFAIK.

Is this a "sound trap" for a drain tube for the sunroof, or something else? How many drain tubes does a sunroof have?

Thanks,
Steve

Ah, looking further, I think I see from the Roof hatch Glass sun-roof Steel sun-roof diagram on https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/ that that part is mentioned there, only one is required per car, and it looks like there is only one drain hose from the sunroof.

It connects to the rear drain tubes from the sunroof, there should be one on each side of the car. You need to make sure the exit isn't blocked up and that it's fitted correctly through the bodywork

The sunroof has 4 drain tubes, 2 front and 2 rear. Open the sunroof and make sure they are not blocked
