Should a 1978 240 be badged a De Lux on the back and a GL on the grill?

Is this correct?

No it has to be one or the other. What is the trim level in the car?

The easiest way to tell on a '78 is that a GL should have leather and fuel injection, whereas a DL has cloth and is carb'd.

It has a leather interior and is fuel injected. It is badged as a De Luxe on the boot lid but also has a GL badge on the grill.

In that case it's a GL. It's possible it's had another bootlid swapped onto it at some point.

I thought general rule was that DL spec had 4 gears while GL had 4+ OD or 5 speed on later ones?

As far as I'm aware the 200s never got a 'De Luxe' (text type) badge, only a 'DL' (letter type). It'll be a GL but somebody has probably stuck a 'De Luxe' badge on the back? The 100s came with a 'De Luxe' text type badge.

Any pictures anyway, just so we can be nosy?
